Happy 1st Birthday son :) :(
Saturday, Oct. 3rd, was a day full of mixed emotions. On one hand, it was a happy day…a celebration. On the other hand, it was a sad day, a day that came way too fast. It was Maddox’s first birthday. I cannot believe he his already one.His party was perfect, even though it rained. We ended up with 40+ friends and family crammed inside of our home.
The theme of his pary was “Rock Star”. Jennifer made a life-size guitar cake. She cut it out in the shape of a Gibson Les Paul and added some pretty cool touches to it. I have to be honest and admit that I had doubts when she said she was going to do this. I will never doubt her again. She is so crazy creative! For Maddox’s own cake she made a star cake and added some creative touches to it as well.
There were so many presents! Maybe they will all come to my birthday party in December. In fact, I hope they bring their friends and family too…just don’t forget the presents, gift cards, and/or cash!
Back to the party…
It was exhausting. I completely underestimated the time, planning, and work that went into “first birthdays”. We both took off from work the Friday before and still didn’t have enough time to do what we needed/wanted to do.We were both ready to crash before it even started. As you can see in last picture below, Maddox did crash.
It’s a day we’ll never forget. It was a good day…a perfect day. Not everyone is as blessed as we are to have an incredible blessing of a perfectly healthy child. We treasure each day and no moment is taken for granted. We thank God everyday for the gift He’s given to us, our son. Although time is going by way too fast it has been the best time of our lives!
We love you Maddox…Happy Birthday!
