I decided to take Maddox to get pictures made and suprise Ray for father’s day. At the place where we take him to get them made they let you bring props or anything you want to put in the pictures. I thought it would be really neat if I took Ray’s guitar and have Maddox sit in the case for some pictures.

One of the greatest, proudest, moments parents look forward to (in my opinion) are the first words of their baby. Well, that moment has arrived for us and Maddox. Actually, Maddox said his first word a few months ago when he was teething and not sleeping at night. The reason we haven’t posted it on the blog yet is because we weren’t quite sure.

We took Maddox swimming for the first time. We of course had no idea how he would react to the water. He love’s taking baths, but this was a little different. It took him a few minutes to observe his surroundings but then he really liked it. He coasted around in his float with a facial expression of “this is how everyday should be”.

Maddox is thirty six weeks old and sometimes hears “no no” more than anything else. Now that he’s crawling, he’s into anything and everything. At first, his main attraction was our fireplace. We purchased a fireplace pad and now he has decided the fire place is not fun anymore. It is absolutely amazing how that works.

Guess what Maddox did for his 8 month old birthday (actually a few days after but close enough)? He got dirty!! The Smith Family Reunion (Jennifer’s side of the family) took place and Maddox refused to sit around and watch everyone else enjoy themselves. The Smith Reunion is a HUGE event! Friends and family come from all over.

Maddox is thirty four weeks old and learning every day. Mommy is currently tring to teach him to use a sippy cup, as you will see in the pictures. He knows there’s something in the sippy cup but he hasn’t figured out that if he tips the cup up, all the liquidy goodness will fill his chunky cheeks. He holds the cup down and grunts in frustration.

Maddox defines the term pretty boy. I mean, just look at him! He’s got the cool little hair thing going in the front (poor boy has my hairline), two little teeth, and big beautiful eyes…and the smile! What a stud! Mommy and I play with him and then stare at him. Then we play some more, and then stare some more.

Mommy and daddy are exact opposites when it comes to feeding Maddox. I like clean hands & a clean face. Mommy likes to turn Maddox loose and find out just how messy he can be. I do think it’s funny, but I can’t hide the urge of wanting to wipe his hands and face. You will see in the pictures mommy was feeding him not daddy!
